Information about repatriating human remains to Zimbabwe
Information about the repatriation of human remains to Zimbabwe. Below are the required documents and important notes for the process.Important: The consulate provides clearance and documentation, but families are responsible for coordinating with funeral service providers and completing all procedures in Zimbabwe.
Required Documents
- Death Certificate (Abridged Death Certificate)
- Copy of Deceased's Passport or Birth certificate or Zimbabwean I.D
- Copy of Deceased relative's Passport or Birth Certificate or Zimbabwean I.D and contact details
- Burial Order
- Embalming Certificate
- Non-Infectious disease Certificate
- Notice of Death/Still Birth - (DHA-1663A)
- Notice of Death/Still Birth - (DHA-1663B)
- Final burial place in Zimbabwe
Important Information
- • NO BODY SHALL BE REPATRIATED TO ZIMBABWE WITHOUT CLEARANCE FROM THE CONSULATE
Deceased of an Undocumented Person
In cases where the deceased does not have Zimbabwean document/s, the undertakers should approach the Consulate with the following additional documents:
- Zimbabwean national identity card and/or Zimbabwean birth certificate of the informant
- Affidavit written by the next of kin stating that the person is indeed a Zimbabwean national and stating the nature of the relationship
The Consulate will seek the necessary clearances from Harare.
